AQIS Notice re import conditions for Timber imports...5th April 2006

The discovery of a pathogen in NZ has had some fairly serious implications on import conditions for a number of plant materials. Timber imports are seriously affected in that all NZ timber such as Douglas Fir, not heat treated before shipment, and currently being discharged in Australia is subject to heat treatment as per ICON conditions before delivery into home consumption. This is a considerable burden for the timber import industry.

The attached notice is an important one which should be viewed by industry participants as a matter of urgency.
