Current Status
A draft report of the Imported Food trial conducted in late 2001 has been completed. Due to a number of considerations and other priorities this project has been slowed due to the need to progress other higher priority projects.
Legislative amendments required to undertake any future Imported Food co-regultion activities have been passed in 2003. The scheme was to proceed with priority for development and implementation in 2004, however changes food standards and internationally recognised QA systems and schemes such as the Production and Process Standards have, to a degree, obviated the need for this project. The shceme will be subject to further review in 2006
